International standards & certificates

Retailers in different countries have decided to develop  their own uniform standard for quality assurance and food safety. The following standards are a result of these decisions:

  • The British Retail Consortium (BRC).

  • The International Food Standard (IFS).
    More information is available on the IFS website.

 

Polar Salmon Hjerting Laks has accomplished certification in accordance with BRC standard as well as IFS standard.  

Additionally the standards The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and the Aqua Stewardship Council have been established. The MSC standard is an environmental standard for sustainable fishery based upon the FAO Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and is known by its characteristical blue logo. The ASC is an environmental standart for farmed seafood and is requnised by a green logo. The purpose of the logos is to help consumers choose companies which support sustainable fisheries and enviromenal sustanability and responsibiliy farmed seafood. The logos can only be used with MSC certified or ASC certified products and by MSC and ASC certified companies.

Polar Salmon Hjerting Laks has accomplished certification in accordance with MSC on some species and is working to obtain certification on other species.
